Secret Society for Creative Philanthropy My friend Mike Brown alerted me (via a post on my Facebook “wall”) this morning that “there’s a copycat dogooder out there!” He was referring to Here You Go - Julie’s project to give away 1000 umbrellas in Pittsburgh this spring. Sure enough, a few members of The Secret Society for Creative Philanthropy tried using their $100 grant to give away umbrellas in San Francisco recently. I think this is beautiful news. If they were inspired - in any measure whatsoever - by Here You Go, AWESOME. If not, EQUALLY AWESOME. If you’re not already familiar with The Secret Society for Creative Philanthopy, do a 5-minute research project and read about them. As for us, we just took shipment of 1000 umbrellas last week - 1000 umbrellas that you helped buy - and are set to begin handing them out. A thousand. To behold them boggles the mind.
