Our first response! What an exciting experience to receive our first postcard from our self-funded pilot with 50 umbrellas while we are in the middle of our fund raising efforts to hand out 1000! This postcard has reminded me why I have undertaken this project. If you attached an unending piece of string to the back of every person on earth that followed them and traced their paths, imagine the massive tangle in which we’d all find ourselves! The postcard responses reflect the path of that string after the umbrella reaches the hand of the recipient. It is our simple attempt to illuminate our connectedness.

If you have yet to donate to Julie’s Here You Go, I hope you’ll consider giving a few bucks to support her inspiring endeavor to hand out 1000 umbrellas to unsuspecting strangers stuck in the rain.
As our friend Albert put it, “How cool would it be to fund a clandestine guerilla force bent on spreading kindness?”
Well, having funded the pilot phase of this thing, and having handed out 10 or so umbrellas myself, I’m here to report it feels great to surprise a soaking wet stranger with a free umbrella. They have no idea why they’re getting a free umbrella. Such kindness is so unexpected that to be handed an umbrella kind of freaks them out. In a good way. A really good way. To answer Albert, supporting this effort is insanely cool.
If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll give a few bucks right now to help Here You Go reach its funding goal.
